We started the series of activities and events this year with a special edition of the DigiGov networking Club meetings, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The event, held on January 29 and hosted by the ministry, focused on the challenges and opportunities for diplomacy in the digital age. The start of the debates was given by presentations from the two organizers, the DigitalDiplomacy.ro team and the MFA, and then two special guests, as follows:
Brânduşa Predescu, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the Ministry’s vision on digital diplomacy, the main social networks used and examples of online activities conducted especially in the last year;
From us, Andreea spoke about the DigiGov Club objectives and opportunities to exchange ideas and best practices in public sector communication, and Andra presented the main international analysts in digital diplomacy and why it is important for public institutions in Romania to follow these specialists;
Matthias Lufkens, Digital Practice Leader for Europe, Middle East and Africa in the company global communication Burson-Marsteller and author of the Twiplomacy studies had an intervention via Skype from Geneva, about the evolution of the use of Twitter by public institutions and their leaders for diplomatic purposes, according to data analyzed in the Twiplomacy studies over three years, and also presenting some useful tips for communicators;
In Romania, journalist Lucian Mîndruță, present at the event, spoke from the perspective of the media and of a social media specialist, particularly for the national audience, about the importance of communication via social networks, indicating the main benefits of effective online communication for public institutions in Romania.
We are glad to have with us also at this edition so many representatives of key ministries and central government institutions, international organizations and diplomatic corps in Bucharest, as well as of non-governmental organizations.
