Last year in October (2014) we launched the first edition of DigiGov, an internal network dedicated to communication professionals from the public administration. Its purpose – to facilitate a better communication and working relation between institutions and to share best practice examples regarding integrating new technologies in the way the public administration interacts with the citizens.

Throughout the year we have dedicated each of the DigiGov meetings to the following topics:

  • Romania’s Strategy of the EU Digital Agenda 2014-202 (organized together with the Ministry of Information Society)
  • Transforming the communication strategy of a public institution (best practice example – Ministry of Defense)
  • Mobile or web apps in the public sector (best practice examples – Oradea City Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department for Online Services and Design)
  • Infography and tools to transform institutional data in creative and interesting content
  • Digital Diplomacy and the importance of online communication in the diplomatic environment (best practice example – Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • The Editorial Calendar; How to structure the work volume and your content on the online channels of a public institution (best practice example – UK Embassy in Romania)

You can also find here more details about the DigiGov meetings and the topics discussed. [RO]

We will restart the DigiGov meetings in October 2015 and we would like to learn more about what topics you would like to discuss and find out more about. I invite you to note down your ideas or suggestions in this online document.  We are also looking for best practice examples that you might know about but have not been sufficiently promoted (from Romania or from abroad).

The purpose of the DigiGov network is to offer useful information about how to develop an institutional communication through the new technologies. These information comes from either communication specialists from the private sector (and we have been fortunate to benefit from the participation of Mr. Cristian Manafu, one of the most important online communication specialists in Romania or Gabriel Frăsineanu, Managing Partner Krogen Creative Studios) either from within, where we discovered with great joy creative specialists, eager to learn more about how to use digital tools or technologies to support citizen engagement and services. We have had specialists from both Romania and abroad, such as the NATO or Burson Marsteller PR Agency.

So we look forward to your ideas until 15 October. We will analyze them and make sure we incorporate them in the next meetings.

DigiGov is an internal, institutional network, which regular monthly meetings and each one of them will have a specific topic of discussion – usually derived from the challenges or day-to-day work activities of the members.
